We're hiring people who love words.

Vocabulous is a small team building the vocabulary curriculum we wish had existed when we were eight. We're a registered social enterprise — every dollar is reinvested. We move quickly, write carefully, and take our work (but never ourselves) seriously.

How we work

Four habits we'd hire for.

  1. i.

    Write before you build. Every feature starts as a paragraph someone other than the author can read. If the paragraph is unclear, the feature will be too.

  2. ii.

    Decisions over deference. We'd rather you commit to an opinion and revise it than wait for permission. Strong views, loosely held.

  3. iii.

    Children are the audience. Not parents, not investors, not the leaderboard. Every shipped change should make a session with an eight-year-old better.

  4. iv.

    Slow research, fast software. We read the literature carefully and ship the product weekly. Both halves are non-negotiable.

    Curriculum Designer (Vocabulary)

    Build the lessons. You'll write chapters, choose words, write example sentences our tutors will use, and own the research-to-curriculum loop. Background in literacy education or applied linguistics ideal.

    Angular + Node + Supabase. You will ship to tutors and students every week, care about the dashboards as much as the marketing site, and have strong opinions about when not to add a dependency.
